The roof of the Church building at Divine Mercy Parish has been a saga! The original roof fitted at construction was installed improperly (all the shingles were installed backward) and had to be replaced entirely with the second roof a year later. That roof was heavily damaged during Hurricane Ida and was completely replaced with the third roof. That roof has had tremendous problems since installation with continued leaks. After almost a year of negotiations (with the roofing contractor, the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and our agents), the roof will be completely replaced for the FOURTH time. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 10th. I pray that completing this project will allow the parish to move forward with the interior repairs to the Church building and the Parish Center. It has been a journey! May God raise the ROOF!
