Announcing Our New Faith Formation & Youth Ministry Coordinator, Miguel Lau
Our parish is pleased to announce that Mr. Miguel Lau has been selected as our new Faith Formation and Youth Ministry Coordinator. Miguel will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing our Parish School of Religion, RCIA, Youth Ministry and Confirmation Prep, Sacramental Prep for children, teens and adults, and other faith formation programs for adults.
Miguel came to the US 40 years ago from Nicaragua and has a BA in Secondary Education and a MA in Romance Languages from the University of New Orleans. He has worked as a teacher (Spanish, Mathematics & English as a Second Language to children, teenagers and adults) and as a school support coordinator with Jefferson Parish Schools for 32 years.
Miguel has been married for 29 years and has two college-graduated sons and has been heavily involved in our parish (and before the merger, at Nativity of Our Lord) as a lector, master of ceremony, sacristan, Hispanic Ministry Coordinator and leader of different small groups of faith formation. He has also served as a Hispanic Youth Group coordinator and Pastoral Council vice president and secretary at St. Jerome Parish from 1994 to 2004. Miguel and his family have been parishioners of Nativity of Our Lord/Divine Mercy Parish since 2005. Miguel has already begun this role on a part-time basis as of August 16th and will take on this important role full-time in November.
Miguel reflects, “I feel blessed in being named Divine Mercy Parish Faith Formation Coordinator. I believe God has been guiding and preparing me through my faith journey to this point in time so I can continue serving Him and our parish in building a strong faith formation base for all parishioners.”
Please join us in welcoming Miguel Lau to our parish staff. We look forward to seeing the Holy Spirit work through Miguel in his many ministries!
