Our second graders will celebrate their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 6th at 10:30AM in the Church. First Eucharist or First Holy Communion is the common name for a person’s first reception of the sacrament of the Eucharist. As Catholics, we recognize the importance of this event because the Eucharist is the central focus of the sacramental life of the Church. A child, baptized as an infant into the family of God now takes a place at the Lord’s table. This is a momentous event for the child, the family, and our parish family as a whole. Our celebration of First Holy Communion is a celebration for the whole community of Divine Mercy Parish and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School. The entire parish is invited and encouraged to walk this journey of preparation with our children through prayer and intention as they approach the Eucharist for the first time.
