Join us as we welcome our new parochial vicar, Fr. Austin Barr, on Sunday, July 14th after the 10:30AM Mass for a light reception. Read Fr. Austin's words to parishioners about his excitement for his new assignment to Divine Mercy:
"Greetings to the parishioners of Divine Mercy Parish! My name is Fr. Austin Barr and I am a newly ordained priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. I am extremely excited to start as your new Parochial Vicar on July 1st. I grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana where I attended public school from kindergarten through high school. After graduating in 2015 from Mandeville High I began undergraduate studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. It was during these formative years that I grew in my life of faith as a young Catholic man and experienced for the first time the Lord’s personal invitation to follow Him as His priest. I entered seminary in 2019 and spent the last six years at Notre Dame Seminary on South Carrollton. On June 1st, 2024 I was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ at St. Louis Cathedral with my two classmates. It is still a surreal experience to celebrate the sacraments of the Church with and for my friends and family. I am both proud and honored to be serving as your Parochial Vicar starting July 1st. Please be assured of my prayers for this parish family and please keep me in your prayers. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and serving you as your priest!"
