Catholic Art Lecture: “Making Visible the Invisible, The Dogma of the Trinity in Sacred Art”
The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, of "the one God in Trinity and Trinity in unity," is the most central dogma of the Christian faith; however, it is also the most difficult to artistically represent. As a result, this subject poses an immense challenge to artists of every age. All are welcome to Blair Gordy Piras’ presentation, “Making Visible the Invisible, The Dogma of the Trinity in Sacred Art,” on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 7 pm in the Schulte Auditorium at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Blair’s presentation will explore the history of the visual representation of the Trinity within the Catholic tradition. She will map out how various councils, Church doctrine, and different cultures have affected our visual tradition. She seeks to answer the question: “What is the most fitting representation of the Most Holy Trinity?” This event is free and open to the public, but be sure to register to reserve your spot!
